soviet-titleDuring the fifties, sino-soviet relations were essentially benign, even if the  ideological roots of the Sino-Soviet split originated in the 1940s and started just after the Sino-Soviet Treaty of Friendship and Alliance (1950).

By 1961, the Communist Party of China formally denounced the Soviet variety of Communism as a product of “The Revisionist Traitor Group of Soviet Leadership”. However, before to split, both the propaganda departments stimulated feelings of friendship and cooperation in their respective populations.

With a bunch of these pictures, I can totally understand why 同志 (comrade) now means "gay" in popular Chinese slang.

Very cool pictures, but I wish the files were larger so it would be worth downloading. I would love to have them in my collection.

These are really great! Right now I can't help but imagine every one of these posters being the same two Russian and Chinese guys, getting up to various adventures of brotherhood and friendship. Like a crazy propaganda sitcom of the two of them getting involved in all sorts of crazy projects like building oil refineries or going into the Navy.
